A Consultancy Built on Diagnostic Discipline
We exist to stabilise the conditions in which learning and digital capability development take place — and to extract clear, measurable outcomes from environments that were previously producing none.
Eleven Years of Steady Operating
Bovingdon-Gray Consultancy Limited was established in Glasgow to address a persistent problem in the UK's training and learning technology market: the gap between the procurement of learning interventions and the production of actual capability change.
The firm was founded by practitioners with direct experience in instructional design, educational technology implementation and organisational development. From the outset, the operating principle was diagnostic before prescriptive — understanding the actual condition before selecting or building any solution.
Over eleven years, Bovingdon-Gray has grown from a two-person instructional design practice into a multi-discipline consultancy capable of delivering end-to-end EdTech transformation, corporate capability programmes, UI/UX design and bespoke digital development — while maintaining the precision of a specialist firm.
The Principles That Hold
Four fixed principles that govern every engagement, regardless of sector, scale or scope.
01
Diagnostic Before Prescriptive
We read the conditions before designing the solution. Every engagement begins with structured discovery — not assumptions from the brief alone.
02
Precision Over Volume
We take fewer engagements and work them with greater depth. The result is outcomes that hold, rather than outputs that simply complete.
03
Evidence at Every Layer
Every decision — design, instructional, technological — is traceable to an identified client condition or a validated outcome requirement.
04
Stable After Delivery
We build to survive the real environment, not the idealised version. Post-delivery review cycles are standard, not optional.
What We Are Engaged to Do
Bovingdon-Gray operates across four interconnected disciplines. Each discipline is practised to a defined standard and delivered by consultants with domain-specific experience — not generalists applying broad frameworks to specialist problems.
EdTech Solutions: We specify, procure and implement educational technology platforms for organisations whose learning architecture requires more than an off-the-shelf product can provide. This includes learning management systems, digital content delivery infrastructure and integrated assessment platforms.
Corporate Training & Development: We design capability development programmes grounded in the actual performance gap — not the perceived one. Blended delivery, verified assessment and embedded reinforcement are standard across all programmes.
UI/UX & Digital Product Design: We design the interfaces that learning happens through. Our product design practice works at the intersection of instructional clarity and interface usability — two disciplines that rarely cooperate unless deliberately managed.
Instructional Design & E-Learning: We produce SCORM-compliant e-learning, interactive scenario design, assessment systems and content architecture — built to frameworks that ensure knowledge transfer, not content exposure.

Bovingdon-Gray operates from its Glasgow base as a consultancy of genuine specialists. We do not sub-contract core delivery. We do not bring in generic trainers to fulfil volume. The consultants who specify the engagement are the consultants who deliver it — ensuring that the diagnostic rigour applied at the start is carried through to the final handover.
Our Scotland base gives us daily proximity to a wide range of public sector, financial and technology clients across the UK, with established delivery experience in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We are registered in Scotland and operate under UK law throughout.
